Product Traits we Seek Across Waves
Dream big, but start small: tackle the first “killer use case” and in parallel build flexibility into the product to one day solve a more generalized set of problems - this helps avoid getting locked down in a narrow industry niche.
Hyper focus on the customer, and find the right entry point to curry favor with frontline users to stimulate adoption and effectively “land”; a value proposition of a fully autonomous “big brother” will erode trust.
Maintain discipline in your product roadmap: be mindful of needless customization, and the time it takes to both land and service the customer… continue to ask, am I building a product or services business? Ask yourself, is this a process that “works”, or is it also one that meaningfully contributes to bottom line performance?
Develop alternative data capture strategies, especially if you don’t secure a launch partner to supercharge your newly formed dataset.
Apply and integrate your data source(s) into existing workflows to create performance differentials that move the needle.
